Busy Bees: Maternelle Learners in ActionC’était une semaine occupée dans notre salle de classe! Nous avons continué nos études sur les arbres, nous avons commencé à apprendre au sujet de la mesure et on se prépare pour célébrer la journée de la terre la semaine prochaine! It was a busy week in our classroom! We continued to learn about trees, we started learning about measurement and we are getting ready to celebrate Earth Day next week! Exploring Indigenous Art with Mme Cara and M. Kevin StevensonDuring the last few weeks, the 5/6 F1 students had the opportunity to study indigenous art with Mme Cara and M. Kevin Stevenson, RRVSD’s Indigenous Inclusion Teacher. Today, they were learning about wampum belts. WHAt's happening next weekGRADES 1 & 2 MME CHRISTINEGrade 1 and 2 had a visit from a Jr B Warrior champ Mr. Thomas. The students had a chance to hold the cup and take pictures with it. We are also busy practicing our Math addition strategies by playing card games. We are having so much fun!!! Young Women in Trades Conference Mr. Thomas, St-Malo Warriors Captain, Brings the Cup to the Classroom.Kindergarten's little garden projectWhat's happening next weekSpring is here!A total solar eclipse is set to occur on April 8, 2024, between approximately noon and 3 p.m. Central Standard Time, spanning from Southern Ontario to Newfoundland and Labrador, with the rest of Canada, is experiencing a partial eclipse. Manitoba will experience an approximate 50 percent occlusion eclipse. This is an awe-inspiring event that will draw people's gaze; however, there is a risk of permanent vision damage if proper precautions are not taken. Even a brief look at the partially eclipsed sun can result in permanent damage. As such, we will keep the students indoors during the afternoon of April 8th to support their safety. gr 5/6 Virtual reality headsetsThis week the grade 5/6 students got the opportunity to try out our RRVSD divisional virtual reality headsets. They all had a great time exploring these devices and playing VR games. The students collaborated, and used problem solving and leadership skills to help out their classmates. Furthermore, our class had a visit from Mr. Kevin Stevenson, our divisional Indigenous inclusion teacher. He brought giant maps for the students to explore and learn from. What's happening next weekSpring break is March 23- March 31. We hope everyone enjoys their time off and we look forward to seeing everyone April 1. Students in music work on keeping tempo as a group by passing shaker eggs to the beat. One of our favourites has been finishing our Matilda Read-Aloud by comparing and contrasting the book and the movie! Notre classe célèbre le mois "J'aime Lire" de nombreuses façons différentes! Love Monsters in Mme Kristyn’s 1/2 Class We read the book Love Monster and created our own monsters. Students drew and painted their monsters. We used toilet paper rolls to form a heart and stamped a background. Then we had the choice to add texture/fur to our monsters using black paint and a piece of cardboard. Aren’t they adorable? Printmaking in Grade ¾Students in all Grade 3/4 classes worked hard on designing prints on styrofoam. Then they used brayers and ink to make 4 or more prints to use in their “LOVE” collage. We traced the letters and cut them out to add to our project. They look perfect in the hallway to celebrate I Love to Read month and Valentine’s Day! Fantasy Lands in Grade 7/8 Students in Mr. Seeley and M. Fouasse’s class created their own Fantasy Lands. They designed their maps, outlined in sharpie and used watercolours to finish off their creations. Love the variety of themes that were imagined in these maps! I Love to read month Kick OffThe K-4 students had a special visit from Corny Rempel this week to help us kick off I Love to Read month! Mme. Rikki’s grade 3/4 have been working on mastering the 0, 1, 2, and 5 multiplication tables. This week students were introduced to the 4 times table! Here they are playing Bump It x4.
