Then they used crayons and foil to make prints with them. Each one is unique with its own personality. Cicadas, Underground Pipes and Planets in Mme Katrina’s ClassThe Grade 3/4s tied in Science and ongoing construction to Art this term. They first made symmetrical cicadas using pastel, paint and wax paper for the wings. Next they created underground pipes and used chalk pastel to give an implied value and 3-D look to their pictures. Lastly, the students used circle tracers, blended pastels and paint splatter to create their own galaxies. Des Fleurs et des Papillons in Mme Christine’s Class This mixed media project combines several different painting and printmaking techniques to create texture and interest; string pull painting, subtractive foam printing, as well as sponge painting. These turned out so beautifully! Eggs in the Nest in Mme Katie and Mme Sydney’s ClassThe Grade 1/2s looked at a variety of nests birds make and how they are made. They were focusing on shapes and texture as they built up their bird nest. The final touch was adding birds eggs and feathers to their collages. Derek Gores Magazine Collages/Kimmy Cantrell Masks in M. Fouasse and Mme Ally’s ClassThe Grade 7/8s created Derek Gores inspired collages, where they chose an object to highlight with a contrasting background using ripped pieces of magazine. They also created Kimmy Cantrell abstract masks with cardboard where they used colour and shape to add emotion. Abstract Art Cardboard Collages in Mme Bonnie and Mme Kristyn’s Class The Grade 5/6s first cut and painted pieces of cardboard. Next they assembled them on a cardboard base to create an individual or collaborative piece of abstract art. The results are stunning! Comments are closed.
