3/4F Explore different soilsIn 3-4F, we have been studying different soil and its uses. We took our curiosity outside and looked at the different soil around the school yard. We compared the dirt from the planters, from the sandbox and around the fence. We looked at what was found within and what could grow in it. Up next we will be planting our own flowers to see what they need to grow! Solids, liquids and gases in 1/2FIn Science we've been learning about solids, liquids and gases. To finish off this unit we learned about buoyancy. We created our own boats using recycled materials. After we tested them out to see if they were able to hold a given mass/weight. We’ve also been enjoying a new game in our class. We have repurposed the game Headbanz as a way to practice our sight words and sounds! 2D and 3d shapes with mme allyWe have been working with circles, triangles and other 2D and 3D shapes in our classroom. As an activity, students were asked to make a cubee character. This is a 2D shape that needs to be cut and transformed into a 3D character. As you can see, many favourite characters occurred, and students independently collaborated to create a theme (go teenage mutant ninja turtles!). Finally, students were asked to write a brief description of why they chose this character. Fun ways to incorporate core subjects into an enjoyable time! Comments are closed.
