ÉSMS Parent Advisory Council for 2022/2023Meet your new PAC for the 2022-23 school year. We look forward to the ongoing partnership and collaboration with the PAC and parent community in the betterment of the students' school year experiences. PAC meetings will be held on the last Tuesday of every month (with the exception of December). President Ashley Hamonic Vice President Melissa McCoy Treasurer Jodi La France Secretary Cynthia D Wiwsionski Members at Large Michelle Catellier Connie Manchulenko Raelee Griffin-Lemay Corrie Van De Vooren Microwaves and milk programUnfortunately, due to the construction, we are currently not able to provide a milk program through the school. This is due to lack of space for storage of milk. We look forward to being able to offer this program once again when the new addition is complete. We face a similar issue with microwaves. Due to our current circumstances with construction, we are not able to install a sufficient amount of microwaves nor make these accessible school wide for students to heat lunches. There is also a concern of supervision required for the use of microwaves with earlier years students and the time delay this would cause for all students waiting to have their lunches warmed up. Once again, we anticipate being able to offer the option of heating lunches with the completion of the new school addition. We thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding as we make our way through the construction and renovation process at the school. Mme Charm's 3/4s visit with Mme ButtercupMme Charm's class had a little visit from our school bunny: Mme Buttercup. The students had the opportunity to ask lots of questions about her and pet her. They even learned that it is possible to earn Mrs. Buttercup in our class for a whole week! That is what we are now trying to do! Learning to code in mme Ally's classOur classroom has been involved in learning computer coding and how to code robots. Students are working together to have the robots meet challenges like responding to light, sound, or certain button prompts. It’s great to see our computer coding come to life! Line SculpturesStudents in Mme Christine, Rikki and Charm’s class are also learning about lines. They demonstrated their knowledge of a variety of different lines by creating an abstract line picture. Next we learned how to make 3 different lines (curved, zig zag, spiral) with strips of paper. They then attached their paper strips to their paper to create a very unique 3D paper sculpture Lines that wiggle in Grade 1/2Students in Mme Sydney and Mme Katie’s are learning about all the different kinds of lines we can make. We read several books and listened to songs about lines. The students made lines with their bodies, searched for examples of lines in the classroom and did an interactive Art activity that went along with a book we read called Lines That Wiggle. Once they created their Line Art, students chose colours to fill in the spaces between the lines to create their very own abstract work of art! Cats on a fenceStudents in M. Fouasse’s class are learning about Colour Theory. After drawing their Cats on a Fence, students were given the 3 primary colours (yellow, red, blue) to paint their fence. Next, they were asked to mix the colours and make the 3 secondary colours. They then used these 6 colours to create tertiary colours for a total of 12 different colours of the colour wheel. The class then learned about Value and used black and white to create several different shades of grey (gradient) to paint their cats. Divisional Cross Country at St. Malo PArkAlthough the weather was a bit chilly, the Grades 3-8 students made the best of it and had a great time representing ÉSMS at the Divisional Cross Country meet!
