New Health Orders starting December 6As per the most recent public health order, as of December 6, 2021, youth aged 12 to 17 years attending indoor sporting and recreational facilities (including schools) must provide proof that they have received at least one dose of an approved vaccine or proof of a pharmacist-confirmed negative result from an approved rapid antigen test, from within the 72 hours before participation. This applies to all students who are currently enrolled in the Hockey Canada Skills Academy. In accordance with the new health orders, effective immediately, for every on ice session, only HCSA students with proof of vaccination or confirmed negative COVID test in accompaniment with a piece of identification will be able to enter the arena for the on ice session. Your child has been provided with a student identification card through Edge Imaging for students to use as ID. Other acceptable government issued ID includes provincial health cards, passports, status cards, permanent resident cards, citizenship cards, social insurance cards and birth certificates. The staff from the St Malo Arena will be checking vaccinations/negative tests and identifications of students entering the arena. This information will not be collected by the school or the school division.
WINTER COLD DAYS & INDOOR RECESS Winter is definitely upon us and here to stay. With the amount of time students spend outdoors up to 1 1/2 hours per day, it is important that students are appropriately dressed for the cold and the snow. Only during times of extreme cold will recess be held indoors. We strongly recommend early years students have a second pair of mittens or gloves and a second pair of socks, in case their first pair is lost or becomes wet during play time. For middle years students, we strongly recommend a good pair of winter boots as opposed to runners or slip on shoes, a jacket, toque, and either ski pants or additional layers of pants. When temperatures of -28 degrees, with or without windchill, are reached, students will spend their recess/break indoor. This includes during morning arrivals between 8:15 and 8:45. To avoid safety concerns and incidents, we are asking families to please refrain from parking in the school parking lot when busses are unloading in the morning or loading at end of day. Families are welcome to park on the street when dropping off or picking up their child at school . When the buses lights are flashing and the stop sign is activated please stop. Proceeding through flashing lights may result in a MPI infraction. Comments are closed.
