Remote LearningAs announced by the Province of Manitoba, all schools in the province will be moved to remote learning for the period from Monday, January 10th to January 14th with in-class learning resuming Monday, January 17th. We are actively planning for this change and will be communicating directly with all parents the expectations for remote learning over the 1-week period. Critical services workers, with K-6 children or children with special needs k-12 (who are not required to self-isolate) who cannot make alternative care arrangements, can have their children attend school for in-class remote learning. If in-school learning during the week of January 10th to 14th is needed, please contact me at 204-347-5255 (extension 5102) or at [email protected] by Friday January 7th, 2022. We will communicate with you (phone or email) to confirm that your child can attend in school learning during the week of Jan 10-14th. Please note, Kindergarten students attending in-school learning during the remote week of January 10th to 14th will continue to attend on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The coup the pousse program is on pause until our return to school on January 17th. Who qualifies as a critical services worker? Tier One includes:
Tier Two:
Additional critical services workers may include people who provide critical services to Manitobans, such as front-line natural resource workers, essential supply chain staff (e.g.truck drivers delivering food, medications and other essential goods; food industry staff working in food processing plants, etc.) gas station attendants, and grocery store staff. NOTE: Schools and school divisions may also use their discretion to accommodate high-risk students in order to mitigate serious concerns of disengagement. For further information please see: https://manitoba.ca/asset_library/en/covid/response-management-K-12-critical.pdf This may include people who provide essential services to Manitobans such as front-line natural resource workers, gas station attendants, grocery store staff, and those listed in the Essential Services Act who must work to maintain essential services (see section 7, as well as the Schedule at the end of the Act). Schools and school divisions may also use their discretion to accommodate children (in other grade levels) of critical or essential workers, who may require in-person support. COVID-19 Rapid Antigen test kits are available for students in Grades K-6 The Manitoba Government announced in late December 2021, that COVID-19 Rapid Antigen test kits will be available for students from Kindergarten to Grade 6. The test kit contains five rapid antigen COVID-19 tests that parents can administer to each child every three or four days as students return to school later in January 2022. Participation is voluntary and children who do not take the rapid antigen test will be allowed to return to school in January when classes resume. Rapid antigen tests are another tool that can help screen for COVID-19 and can provide peace of mind to parents and caregivers. Anyone who tests positive with the rapid antigen tests would then need to follow all current COVID protocols prior to entering school. Call HEALTH LINKS for current COVID protocols. Test kits will be available for pick up starting January 7th in the afternoon at the school for K to grade 6 students. For more information on Rapid Antigen test please visit this link: https://www.mbschoolboards.ca/covidTesting.php Please contact the school if you are still requiring a laptop or need to fill out the Criticial Service Worker Survey. Attendance during remote LearningDuring remote learning, attendance will be taken as usual. Please notify the office or your child's teacher in the event that you child cannot make it to one of their scheduled class times.
